Description
On the morning of September first, the swallowtail butterflies began emerging from their cocoons. I had to move several up high enough the outdoor cats didn't play with them while their wings dried, but this particular butterfly stayed on my finger until its wings were ready to fly.

I've never seen one of these! It must be so pretty in real life, these wings are so exquisite...

Believe it or not, there is an even prettier swallowtail butterfly (imo) the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail. We see them flitting about, but have not had them take over the fennel plants yet.
