Description
A small bunch of four bananas, artistically arranged on a circle of wood. I wanted to do a couple of things in this color study: I wanted to utilize contrasting colors and I wanted to capture the impression of bright light on the yellow subject. Along with the obvious pairing of yellow and purple, I also decided to paint the wood a more reddish color to complement the green tint at the stems and ends of the fruit.
This is the first of a three-day art challenge focused on the theme of "banana," to include studies of the shape, texture, and color of this fine tropical fruit. I am calling this series "Going Bananas."
